US President Donald Trump on Monday called on his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin to reach an agreement to “end the war” in Ukraine.
Before his inauguration as the 47th president of the United States, Trump said he was preparing to meet with Putin to “end” the conflict caused by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022.
From the Oval Office of the White House, the new US president insisted that he “has to talk to President Putin, who will be very happy to end this war.”
But for the first time, Trump has explicitly put pressure on his Russian counterpart, saying that his country faces disaster if it refuses to sign a ceasefire or peace deal with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
