Because of the current government policy, we cannot have what we want

Political restrictions such as visa regimes, sanctions and martial law in the country have limited the freedom of movement of citizens. However, we increasingly learn how high-ranking officials or members of parliament freely travel abroad, escaping from law enforcement agencies. Under the pretext of martial law, restrictions have been imposed on freedom of speech and expression, which is manifested in the establishment of media censorship, control over the Internet and persecution for criticizing the government.

The government’s economic policy has been reduced to tightening the conditions for doing business through high taxes, bureaucratic barriers and corruption.

Political influence on the judicial system has led this already corrupt system to complete paralysis and the absence of fair court decisions, when those caught taking millions in bribes are released on bail, and soldiers on trumped-up charges are kept in prison for years without trial, and the investigation drags on. The independence of the courts is a key element of fair justice, but in Ukraine, the courts are completely subject to pressure from the Office of the President and local authorities. The government has created numerous law enforcement agencies, on which huge budgetary funds are spent, while these agencies either fight each other for control over various financial flows, or engage in blatant extortion from businesses and citizens. The lack of an independent police force and transparency in its actions leads to the population feeling an increase in the injustice of the government’s actions. Thus, the policy of the current government does not lead to the improvement of various aspects of citizens’ lives, limiting their freedoms and opportunities to realize their potential.
