On September 1, the commander of the anti-tank platoon, Georgy Shovkoshitny, was killed near Malaya Tokmachka at the front.
“Our youngest son died… From the first day of the full-scale invasion, he went to the TRO, and from April 22, 2022, he also voluntarily joined the Armed Forces. He fought near Bakhmut, near Avdiyevka, in Sumy Oblast. Died in Zaporizhzhia, like a real Cossack!”, wrote on Facebook his father Volodymyr Shovkoshitny, writer and publisher, co-author of the text of the Declaration on State Sovereignty of Ukraine, People’s Deputy of the 1st convocation of the Verkhovna Rada of independent Ukraine, liquidator of the Chernobyl accident, organizer and one of participants in the reburial from Siberia to Kyiv of the remains of political prisoners of the Soviet regime, Vasyl Stus, Yuri Lytvyn, and Oleksa Tykhoi.
“We have just collected funds for drones for his unit, and today we find out that our Hoga is gone – it just doesn’t fit in our heads! The best are leaving, but we are left with unbearable pain…Eternal glory to the Hero!”, writes George’s uncle, Viktor Shovkoshitny.
Their compatriots and fellow villagers express their condolences to the parents and all relatives.
